Catch Andrew Mwenda live on That Nikko’s Show on Tuesday 17th July.Don’t miss it!

A lot of people have been asking why I’ve been absent and the show has been offline. To clear the air, I’ve been busy with school and am studying for exams. In the free time I’ve had however, I’ve slowly kept up work on my upcoming novel “The Pros And Cons Of A Thinking Mind” which should be out in less than a year. A story about a young con artist in an educational institution and his path to what some may call greatness, and others peril. For now though I was able to release a few audio clips of comedy for which I appreciate the support. This summer though, TNS goes live on video and launches a new official website meant for easier access for all my viewers and followers. In other news, June 1st 2012 brings a breakthrough in Ugandan/East African fashion with a new fashion outlet known as b.o.l.d. According to my sources the new outlet brings us the original brands “Kwesh couture, Qulture and the already famous Definition also by young designers I’m glad to have the pleasure of meeting, more details on that soon as I keep following them up. On the show coming up though, expect ambitious Ugandan Gospel musician, Nyonyozi, hit Kenyan group Camp Mulla, as well as Arnold Arineitwe, a young man of 21 years who started a chicken farm at age 14 and now puts his siblings through school and takes care of his parents. All kinds of inspiring musicians and entrepreneurs coming up this summer. Please keep following and see you all soon.

This is Vanessa. MTV Africa personality, radio host, singer & one of East Africa’s most talented ladies.

In 2007 at just 19 years old, Vanessa Mdee won MTV’s nationwide VJ search in Tanzania. She proved to be perfect for the job and has only grown bigger and better since. Getting herself into other tv giggs, music, charity and her own radio show on Choice FM Tanzania called ‘The Hit List’. Speaking of which, she was actually on air when I caught up with her and she was able to tell me more about her journey.

Hi! honoured to have you on the show tonight. Huge fan! How’s your show going?

Pleasure’s mine hey, you doing big things yourself I applaud you :) - Shows knocking  Mercy - Sweeerve :)

Thanx! I wish I could tune in! So tell me…how did all this start for you? how did you get to tv?

I got on MTV after winning a nationwide VJ search back in ‘07, wow been a while eeeek!

Haha! So since then…I’ve noticed you made it to radio and music. Which would you say you’re striving in most?

striving at all on a personal level. Radio is such an education - its cut throat, you’re only as good as your last link I love the creative freedom that comes with radio, I produce my show and I have a great team with many mentors it’s probably ONE of the best career moves I’ve made from an experience point of view. I make music cos I’ve always  felt attached to this form of expression, any artist will tell you about how exhilarating the process is from writing to being in the booth to hearing it play and the reception ( good or bad ) its a HIGH. And TV is my first loveyou know what they say about those :)

Ofcourse, I’ve seen you on TV, its impressive how connected u are at what you do :) I’ve also seen your work with dynamite mission.Tell me more about that, and any other efforts you’ve made for charity.

well I was approached by the to take on this roving reporter/ blogger I’d worked with them before and felt like an experience I didn’t want to pass on, I didn’t expect anything but an education. Plus I get to meet some amazing ..young leaders who are at the forefront of the prevention revolution, who have more than I can express influenced my thinkinpositively,if I can use my voice to be a purveyor of good vibrations - hey why not. I’ve done some work with and education.

Amazing energy!:) so,aside from the educational experience, and the chance to TRAVEL the world, lol…What challenges have you faced in everything you do..the little setbacks.

Challenges are part of the journey, its how you handle them I suppose that separates the next.

True say. Is there anything you see yourself doing outside showbiz?

. Farming, I kidd!If it makes sense to branch out I’d definitely do it.

Haha. I like the open mind! So meanwhile on a personal level, has being able to travel as much as u do…had any negative effects on your life?

I wouldn’t use the term negative but I don’t spend as much time as I would like to with fam, I miss out on some major Events. My appetite fluctuates occasionally but everything else is a THRILL.

That’s understandable but its definitely worth it! So anyway, before we wrap up..what about your journey so far, would you change any part of it if you could? :)

A change of any occurrence would cause an imbalance and a tug on either side of the experience. Butterfly effect style …I’ve been pretty blessed and God has been amazing to me, all praise and glory back. Wouldn’t change a thing.

I’m glad you feel that way. It’s inspiring how far you’ve come Vanessa. Keep up the epic work. :)Thanx again for being on the show tonight. Much appreciation!

Womens Day song Edwin did earlier this year. Check out more of Edwin’s work on his website : http://www.ruyonga.com

Edwin Ruyonga Testimony.

I managed to get in touch briefly with the gospel rapper making movements in Uganda Edwin Ruyonga, earlier this week I got to know more about him. Despite the connection issues we were facing, the interview went quite well and a lot of people tuned in and had good questions of their own.

great to have you on the show! how’re u doing?

  I’m good Boss, you?

I’m good man!as uncool as it is,am sippin on chocolate milk. So anyway, when and how did u get into music??

By listening to it, then doing open mics

clarify for my viewers, are u a gospel rapper..is that what you call yourself? Is that the kind of message ur into?

Yes I am a gospel rapper, I’m like no gospel rapper anyone has seen or heard before, though I want to be known as excellent, gospel or not. And I want to make EPIC Ugandan music n music in general

I’ve heard ur music! I love it!especially the women’s day and FNL tracks. Are you back in Uganda for good?

Am I back for good?I’ll put it like this; I’m around right now, and UG will always be my home

That’s good to hear. How have u been received since u got back? In terms of ur music i mean.

I have received a lot of love and great responses for the music since I’ve been back and I am honored

That’s a good look. In terms of criticism tho, tell me about that negative bit.

A negative criticism would be that gospel won’t sell. Not that its about that but I don’t believe that anyway

As i researched you, I was told your material doesnt apply to Uganda. So i’ll ask, what music have u put out that does apply?

I believe my music applies, so I wouldn’t know how to answer that. I guess you could say that’s why I’m doing this new project here. The new material will definitely apply

Keep believing in yourself man. So who would u refer to as ur target audience in terms of ur music?

man all ages but I really want to reach and empower the youth. I want to pour into them they’re the future

I hear that. As far as ur dream is concerned tho, do you see music providing a living for u or do u have other plans?

Tho I have graphic skills I 2 live off of, Music is my passion. 2 quote sum1, Had no plan b, this is what I planned to be so yeah.

 Graphic skills? do elaborate

I do all my own art and poster work, I’m sick with photoshop

I didnt know that! Watch me fire my researcher.lol. quick personal one., u werent always on the right path.. what got u there?

Jesus. I was definitely doing my own when he fully fully interfered with it.

I hope a lot of people read that answer. Anyway am off to bed for class 2mro. It was good having you today Edwin.Thanx again!

Questions asked by the viewers!

: Do you write your songs?

Yes I write all my own songs

I wanted to know how  plans on appealing to the ug crowd including the localz cz their support iz key too??

I plan on mixing my various experiences with a local bt banging organic sound. It’ll b different

: what are your challenges as a gospel rapper? And any plans of realizing a lugi song soon coz that wud b cool

Some Lugi and other stuff might show up in there somewhere ;)

. Ask  how is his adjusting with life africa after being away for so long

some things I like some things I don’t. Things could run on time more but food and everything else is unbeatable.

any plans of venturing further? Say the E.A music scene? Collabos perhaps?

Oh wow Boss. I want to collab many many E A artists a lot of talent here good to be home.

how r u going to live your life as a gospel artiste so as 2 impact n empower d youth?

my desire is to live this thing. God gave me gifts 4 days, but I want the fruit. THAT’ll empower youth seeking first the Kingdom of God and living to believe everything in the bible actually happened. We need help and only God can help this broken world, youth included, truly believe that.

should we expect any future collabos between and  cause that would be sick :) ???

Collab with seems highly likely if you ask me, but I’m only half the decision ;)

so wen should we expect music shows.. *excitement* !!

expect music shows as much and as soon as possible :)

can we still ask? I guess yes! About the name change, Krukid to Ruyonga, why not a pseudo str8nd o KrukidNoMore

lol, coz those Pseudos were already taken? I shouldn’t lie, I’m a Christian :)

Xabu singing “African Woman”. Check out more of their music on youtube.

This week on twitter I caught up with Xabu, a group of three girls making a name of themselves in the music scene in Uganda. I was second to host them actually, last week they had their first interview on Mister Deejay’s hit radio show on radio city. I was lucky to have them and I wish them all the best this year, here’s what we talked about:

Hello ladies!!!Thanx for speaking to me today!how are you doing?

we are GREAT!!! Very excited to be doing this today:D Pardon the slight delay.

That’s okay, I was actually doing laundry.lol. Down to business, when did you guys get started? I’m a huge fan!

I bet:) well, we are a group of three, we met around 2009 at first love studios  we used to go do a lot of add, some of which you have heard and we decided to try something 2gether and it worked, lol so our late producer Paul Kim encouraged us to try it out and thus the birth of Xabu :D

Interesting, did you guys get along at first though?did you naturally connect or did you just grow into it?

oh, not quite, haha, we are three very different personalities and we would often clash but these in turn made us stronger, the more we shared, the more we learnt how to deal with each other and compromise, n we still do clash but with a smile:D so I can confidently say that now, we are not the same three girls that met in ‘09 we are Xabu

I like that.now, about what you’ve done so far, your performances and productions. how were you received then and now?

we can gladly say we are wow’d by the responses we’ve got so far, glad that people are opening up to a new type of sound  we are working on releasing our 3rd one in a few weeks and eventually an album by the end of the year, so we bringing it:) via performances,  provided a platform with her band and we have performed at watoto and several conferences so we are very happy with what we have achieved so far. Oh I think I missed a tweet about our two songs out ‘Serengeti Love’ and Amazing Love’.

I’ve heard all of them! amazing!so,at this level, wat’s the greatest challenge ur facing at the moment.aside from school.

thank you:) and well, our music can tend to be a tad bit sophisticated, haha, and sometimes hard for people to get. So we are hoping that Uganda, East Africa as a whole warms up to it so we can take music to much greater heights.

speaking of which, how are u doing on the regional front? have u had a chance to work with East African artists?

yes, we have done some projects with and  and are in talks with working with others.

I love those guys! huge young talents.meanwhile, am sure u’ve been criticized by now… how so?

haha, well as I’d mentioned, our music is not your ordinary club bunger and would like us to do more ‘banging’ music, lol so we hope criticism will turn into love soon:D

I definitely see that happening!getting personal tho, who of u is the most controlling and who’s most stubborn? haha!

hahahaha, how about we postpone this question till the next interview, Yes?? Great!:) lol Those are group secrets till further notice, haha

thats fine.but i wont forget!! so anyway, tell me where your motivation comes from. what inspires you as a group?

Our passion for music!! we all love and enjoy singing and we would like to share and inspire others to follow their dreams and believe in themselves and what they love to do! To show that it is okay to follow your passion:)

I know the feeling!that’s good to hear.tell me about 2012, what are you girls planning?

oh, GREAT THINGS:D as I said we hope to release our album this year, we want to just show people why we call our music GOLD. We hope to do more shows, inspire more people, aiming for better than perfect as the late jobs used to say; give ya’ll US:D  give ya’ll quality, give ya’ll melody, give ya’ll music beyond music, haha, you shall all experience Gold.

I love that!and we’ll all keep an eye!stay blessed ladies, I know you’ll get there.Thanx again for today. am honoured.

Thank you very much for hosting us and always representing:D it was fun

 Thank you soo much!
